Voguing and Waacking Workshop
Facilitated by Queer-Side
Saturday 26 October
FABRIC, iC4C
2-3:45pm
Whether you’re 5 or 95, join us for an exciting, welcoming and inclusive dance workshop led by Queer-Side.
Waacking was created in the LGBT clubs of Los Angeles during the ‘70s disco era. Distinguished by its rotational arm movements, musicality, posing and emphasis on expressiveness.
Voguing is a highly stylised, modern house dance originating in the late ’80s. Today it’s a global phenomenon with three distinct styles: Old Way; New Way and Vogue Fem
Both styles encourage a community which help create safe spaces, confidence, security, attitude and positivity.
Earlier in the day we’ll have fun activities to get you in a feel good space – see our Daytime Party and Disco!
Important Information: Under 18s need to be accompanied by an adult. If you’d like to accompany someone under the age of 18 but don’t want to take part in the workshop itself you will need to notify us for space reasons – feel free to give us an email on minder[at]jop-arts.co.uk to reserve a seat at the side to watch!
