Call Out: artist facilitator
Artist Facilitator
LGBTQ+ Artist Required
Queer Up Duck! is Seeking an Experienced Artist Facilitator
Following the success of funding from the National Lottery Community Grant, Queer Up Duck! Is looking to recruit an experienced Artist Facilitator to lead art sessions aimed at LGBTQ+ individuals over the age of 60 in November 2026.
During Queer Up Duck’s first festival in 2024 we ran a series of workshops that explored LGBTQ+ identities through art. These workshops were aimed at LGBTQ+ young people and were immensely successful at providing a safe space for young people to discuss their sexuality whilst creating art. Following feedback we are now looking to create a similar workshop experience for LGBTQ+ elders.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for an artist who is LGBTQ+ with previous experience of leading workshops to design and facilitate a number of creative art sessions. Whilst experience with elders would be great, it’s not essential provided you are understanding to individual needs of experience. We don’t have a fixed idea on what sort of art should be made during the sessions, but we are keen for someone who is confident in both facilitating a practical hands-on session whilst encouraging participants to talk about their experiences of being LGBTQ+
The work will entail:
- Devising a minimum of 3 creative art sessions
- Souring materials for the delivery
- Managing the budget, ensuring all receipts and invoices for materials
- Delivering 3 creative workshops aimed at LGBTQ+ elders
- Facilitating and managing a maximum group of 12 people
- Being great at encouraging individuals to get creative whilst actively listening and engaging in conversations around sexuality
Fees and Materials
Workshop Design: £300
Workshop Facilitation: £250/session
Total: £1050
We have budget of £300 towards materials
Dates and Location
As the funding came through later than expected we are in the process of securing a venue and potential dates for this. We’d look to run these during the day, mid-week for 2 hours maximum across 3 regular days in November. We’re ideally looking at venues which will be in Nottingham City centre, close to transport links and accessible.
This work is being made possible thanks to the National Lottery Community Fund and The Spencer Trust.
